Vivek Ramaswamy Reacts to SCOTUS Ruling on Biden Administration’s Student Loan Forgiveness Program

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy released a video statement Friday after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Biden administration’s proposal to unilaterally cancel hundreds of billions in student loan debt.

In the 6-3 ruling, the majority opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts declared that the Biden Education Department had “no authorization for the Secretary’s plan when examined using the ordinary tools of statutory interpretation—let alone ‘clear congressional authorization’ for such a program.”

Acknowledging the Court’s ruling, Ramaswamy said, “We have a bad habit in America of paying people to do the exact opposite of what we want them to do: more [money] to stay at home than to work, more [money] to be a single mother than married, more [money] for those who *fail* to repay loans than those who do.”

“As a matter of policy, this decision helps reverse that trend,” Ramaswamy added before noting that the Court’s decision against the loan forgiveness plan “builds upon West Virginia vs. EPA (2022) in setting a powerful precedent suggesting that *most* regulations promulgated by the Administrative State are unlawful.”

If elected, Ramaswamy said that he would lead the Executive Branch by rescinding all federal regulations that “fail the Supreme Court’s new standard.”

“This will unleash the American economy and restore the integrity of our 3-branch Constitutional Republic over the unconstitutional behavior of the Fourth Branch,” the GOP presidential candidate added.

“America is a country where you achieve and get ahead based on your own hard work and commitment and dedication…That’s the country I’m going to create and help lead as your next president, and I think that the Supreme Court is making my job – all of our jobs, quite frankly – a heck of a lot easier, and I’m glad for the decision,” Ramaswamy said.
